I took December off from writing. Set the draft I made in November aside and concentrated on holiday prep and family. Now I’m back into revision mode and am finding several pieces of my story that just don’t cut it. Ugh! That’s what revisions are for right?
It’s a bit overwhelming to look at the 50+ thousand word I’ve already written and know that I’m going to be changing big parts of it. Those changes will yield other changes in other chapters and so forth and so on. It’s a monumental task. So, where am I going to go with it?
Back to the outline. I’m going to start again with the outline and shift things around. At least then I’ll understand what chapters will need to be updated and what characters are going to be affected by the twists and turns I plan on introducing. Some story elements just don’t work so I’ll be taking those out and once again that will impact other chapters. It’s a lot of effort that I’m hoping will leave me with a story that I’m entirely happy with and one that I hope my readers will enjoy.
Time for change indeed! New Year’s Resolutions have nothing on the indie author!
