Any dog owner appreciates the quirky personalities that come with our furry friends. My beagle is no exception. From his self-taught “errrrr” to let us know he has to go outside to his ability to point out exactly where his treats are kept, this little companion has personality plenty. He certainly doesn’t like to be left alone when other people are in the house. In the morning while we are getting ready he’ll often come barging upstairs just to make sure we are still around. Once assured, he’ll wander off to find a comfortably place to take a nap.
After a healthy greeting at the door when I got back from a quick round of early evening shopping he raced me upstairs knowing that “mom” (my wife) was reading in the bedroom. Without even the slightest hesitation he lowered his shoulder and launched himself into the door to open it. He could have been playing in the NFL with that kind of move but I think the pro football guys are looking for a teammate that won’t lick their faces.
When writing at home in my office, he’ll often lay down at my feet and wait patiently for his next belly rub. There is no better writing companion than Buster. If you have a similar companion I’d love to hear about him/her in the comments.
